The Black Americans’ influence and contribution to the history of the United States is indisputable. From science, politics and academia, to music, arts and social movements, Black History is American history.
Starting June 19th, we will begin a six week exploration of the Black experience in America with special emphasis on North Carolina and the Triad. We seek to build an intergenerational community of learners and teachers of all cultures and learning styles. We hope to create a space that honors the struggles, triumphs, and innovations of our ancestors, while fostering a sense of unity, understanding, and inspiration among all participants. Join us for this unique community learning opportunity.

In honor of Juneteenth, local historian Phyllis Bridges will conduct a Walking History Tour of Oakwood Municipal Cemetery's "Colored Section."
Rediscover historical stories that have gone unearthed for decades of High Point's early Black Settlers. Learn more about former slaves, free people of color, businessmen & women of the past.
The tour is free and open to the public.
