Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum Tour

Load the bus in High Point at Washington Terrace Park and journey with us on a round-trip shuttle to Sedalia for a walking tour.

The Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum is significant as North Carolina’s first state historic site honoring an African American woman, preserving the legacy of Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown and the Palmer Memorial Institute, an elite boarding school that educated thousands of Black students during the Jim Crow era, highlighting themes of African American education, women’s history, social progress, and Black excellence in the South.  It showcases the success of Black youth and educators, linking their contributions to broader American history.
