At Yalik’s African American Art & Cultural Movement we will aspire to tell the story of African Americans history through documentary films, photo exhibitions, books and other initiatives.
Donations to Yalik’s Archival Collection will assist us in fulfilling our mission to collect, preserve, and provide access to the historical materials that contain the histories of peoples, of communities, of beliefs and dreams, and of a past worth sharing with the future.
Yalik’s Archival Collection will provide a source for the community to foster learning and a lifelong connection to African American history.
The Archival Collection will also act as a vital resource for educators and will bring historical content to stimulate their lifelong learning as well as strategies and teaching resources for the classroom.
Our purpose is to collect & preserve artifacts, documents art, historical artifacts, photographs, moving images, archival documents, electronic data, audio recordings, books and manuscripts that reflect the history and development of the African American experience in its many aspects.
Subjects includes the era of slavery, the period of Reconstruction, the Harlem Renaissance, and the civil rights movement.
